Cowes Isle of Wight

The town of Cowes is situated on the northern tip of the Isle of Wight and is split into West and East Cowes by the River Medina. Cowes connects the Isle of Wight to the port of Southampton via its high-speed passenger and car ferry services that operate from West Cowes and East Cowes respectively. The ferries are operated by Red Funnel Ferries and make Cowes an ideal home for people who wish to commute to Southampton and beyond.

Cowes is famous for its world class sailing event, Cowes Week which is held in early August. As well as the Round The Island Race and a host of other yachting regatta's held throughout the year. Cowes has a rich boat building and aerospace heritage which is still maintained by companies such as GKN Aerospace (in East Cowes).

On the outskirts of Cowes are the villages of Gurnard, Northwood and Whippingham which are only a few minutes from Cowes and the Island's major shopping town of Newport.

Visitor attractions include Osborne House the favourite country house of Queen Victoria and the Cowes Maritime Museum situated in West Cowes Library. The beaches and green near the Royal Yacht Squadron and Gurnard provide places to swim, play or just relax.
